    03. Should I use Moving On 14-19 or EQUALS KS4 for my 14-16 year old students?

The problems of providing an effective and relevant curriculum at Key Stage Four for 14-16 year olds continues
to be a challenge, because of the constantly changing demands of entry into the vocational world. In the
'Moving On' curriculum we believe that the needs of this age group are specific to the rate of progression that
each student is working within. We suggest that this is the focus that we should have in mind to meet the
challenge of providing an appropriate response.

For example there are some students who reach the age of 14 years who are really beginning to flourish with
their National Curriculum studies and who need to spend as much time as possible within these subject areas.
On the other hand there are students who are ready to access significant aspects of a Post Sixteen curriculum at
14 years of age. Such students may benefit from a five-year period of access to the breadth of the 'Moving On'
    curriculum.

Whichever approach a teacher decides to take, a cohort of students needs to have a projected programme
of study that will cover the full period of their remaining school career, be it 14-19 or 16-19 years of age. Within
each year group a Scheme of Work for each year can be planned in the months prior to the start of a new year
of study. In order to do this, teachers need to understand the structure of 'Moving On'.
