    13. Unique Pupil’s Number – where do we get it from ?


    The pupil’s ‘UPR’ number is the same as the one which is used by Maintained Schools on all their pupil returns 
    for their Local Authority and the Government. For the purposes of data submission Independent Schools should 
    choose their own 13 character numbers for pupils wherein the first character is a letter and the other characters 
    are numbers. They should keep a record of the numbers that they use for individual pupils so that pupil’s 
    progress can be tracked from year to year.
